What Does VoIP Caller Mean?

You are probably seeing more VOIP CALLER or VOIP come up on your phone’s screen.  VoIP Caller meaning?

It is the Caller ID identifying your incoming call as a call made over broadband internet connection instead of the older phone lines. VoIP customers have the option of having their company name or a phone number as their Caller ID associated with their main Business Telephone Number (BTN).  If the company has additional phone numbers connected to the business, they can choose not to have Caller ID associated on every number, so VoIP Caller may be displayed.

Cable or Wiring, What Do I Need?2021-10-08T17:57:41-04:00

We recommend a high quality cable for VoIP clarity, every call.

Phone System Cabling

We recommend Cat 5 or Cat 6 ethernet cable for use in our hosted VoIP Telephone Systems to provide the end user a reliable high quality voice experience.  Before we install a system,  it is important in the site inspection to determine if the cabling on your premise is compatible with our standard for quality service.  Most cabling in offices today is recent and should not pose any issues for quality service.

If it is determined that your office cable does need to be upgraded,  you can use the services of MetroConnect or any professional cable installer you choose to upgrade with.

Office Phone With Call Forwarding2023-10-31T15:08:12-04:00
Office phone with call forwarding.

Office phone with call forwarding, when would I use this option?

Good question.  When you’re not available to take a call, the last thing anyone wants is voicemail.  With our easy-to-use call forwarding feature, you never have to miss an important conversation again!  Just select Forward All  (see photo for location) soft key and entering either an extension or number for where incoming calls should be forwarded to. When you want to cancel this option, just go back in and select the Cancel option.

For a majority of our systems it is just that easy! Some clients may have requested a different configuration during installation of their phone system – so please contact us if your system doesn’t follow these steps.  We will check your system for special configurations and advise you on your custom steps to follow.

At MetroConnect, our office phone with call forwarding is just one of the many features available to our clients.  For a list of our standard features, please click here.  Our phone system structure gives our tech more flexibility than most systems out there.  In our initial conversations with you, tell us how you need your call flow to go, all the features that are important plus special features you would like to see if we can initiate on your system.  Once your new system is up and running, we will continue to make adjustments to your feature list.  Remember our goal is to provide your company a full featured phone system that provides the perfect operational call flow for your company.

Can I use my work VoIP phone at home for remote work?2023-10-31T15:12:29-04:00

Can I use my work VoIP phone at home for remote work?

Our clients love the ease of portability MetroConnect offers with their Telephone Systems. We know that our customers, whether they’re in an office or are doing remote work from home, are always looking for a phone system to provide them and their workers with a unified professional appearance. One great feature we offer is remote work integration through Telephony over IP (TIP), which will allow your employees at both locations access to one single centralized telephone system without any additional equipment costs!

We ask that you alert us of any upcoming movement of phones whenever possible. When the times arrives for our clients to work remotely they just bring their office phone to their new location.  They then contact a MetroConnect technician to update their 911 information and enable remote use.  With a  few minor adjustments they are ready for business.  Your remote work office can be local, state wide or out of state, anywhere you have secure internet. Tell us what you need and we will make it happen.

It’s no wonder why so many businesses have made us part of their team – you’ll love how affordable we can make things too!

Mobile Workers Can Benefit From Our Phone System

With MetroConnect’s powerful phone system we can also accommodate Mobile Workers too.  If you have employees that mostly work on the go instead of working physically at the office,  they can be included in the business phone system.  An extension would be set up for each mobile worker that calls can be forward to by the receptionist or if setup on the system, your Interactive Auto-Attendant.  Interactive Auto Attendant (IVR) is an answering system programmed to your system to direct incoming callers to their destinations using a simple push button menu.  The call answered either way would appear to the caller as a normal transfer to recipients extension. They would not know that the call has left the physical office and been sent to the recipients cell phone. If the recipient can not receive the call, the caller can leave a message which will be forwarded to a designated email address for the recipient to view.

For remote work, mobile work or office work, MetroConnect wants to make sure your employees don’t miss that important phone call. Call our office to discuss how MetroConnect can help your telecommunication challenges.

Florida Hurricane Season – What Happens To My Business Phone Calls?2022-05-31T15:35:18-04:00
Don't let your business be down because of the storms.

Working in the south, it is always wise to be prepared for dreaded hurricanes and tropical storms.  As a business owner, we understand that you need to be prepare so that after the storm you can minimize your down time even if you need to setup temporary office space.

When you initially signed up for service with MetroConnect we asked for an emergency cell phone number just for times like this.  If you do not remember who’s cell number was given or would like to make a change,  please call the office 727-400-3171.  Depending on the severity of the storm and damage to our county, if we determine it will be a couple days with services down, we will forward your main office number to the designated cell phone.

You will also continue to receive your corporate voice messages via email.  Your company designated a voice message email recipient at the time of installation.  Every time a caller leaves a voice message on your telephone system the recipient receives an email containing an audio version of the message.  Knowing your staff’s plans for weathering the storm might make you want to reconsider who the recipient is.  Please call our office 727-400-3171 to make any change.

If your business unfortunately does receive damage from the storm, please know that MetroConnect will do our part to help get you up and running as soon as possible.  Contact our office to update us on your office recovery as it progresses 727-400-3171 or email us at:  support@mymetroconnect.com

Can we keep our business phone number if we switch service?2023-10-31T11:07:27-04:00

Can we keep our business phone numbers if we switch service?

Yes, most service providers offer a feature called “number portability” which allows you to keep your existing business phone numbers (DID’s) when you switch to their service. This ensures minimal disruption to your business operations. However, it is always best to confirm with the service provider beforehand.

Furthermore, some service providers may charge a fee for number portability, so it is important to discuss this with them before making the switch.

To successfully transfer your business phone numbers, you will be asked by the new carrier to provide proof that you are the authorized owner of the numbers. This can be in the form of a bill or account statement from your current service provider. You will probably be asked to sign a Letter of Authorization (LOA) to give authority to your new carrier to transfer the business phone numbers.

Toll Free Business Phone Numbers

If your company has a Toll Free Number that you want transferred you will be asked to sign a Toll-Free Letter Of Authorization and provide the account invoice that includes the toll-free phone number.

Moreover, it is important to note that number portability may take some time to complete, usually around 7-14 business days. Depending on the situation with your current provider during the transfer time, if necessary your new carrier may be able to forward your numbers temporarily to prevent any service downtime for your company.

Multiple Business Phone Numbers

Before you start the porting process you might want to consider if you need all the phone numbers associated with your company. With the older legacy systems companies were required to have rollover lines. This allowed for multiple calls to come into a business at one time and be rolled to the next available line to be answered. With VoIP you have unlimited incoming lines. If staff members are not available to help answer calls your automatic IVR will route the calls to the correct person or department.
