What does STIR/SHAKEN mean for our clients?
STIR/SHAKEN is a set of federal standards that service providers must comply with to ensure caller ID authentication. SHAKEN protocols dictate how STIR is to be deployed by service providers within their network.
On June 30th, 2022, the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) ruling on STIR/SHAKEN went into effect, a year earlier than originally stated. This means that all telephone companies in the United States have been required to complete the step-by-step STIR/SHAKEN process to receive corporate authorized codes and provide full implementation. MetroConnect LLC has diligently worked to complete the steps required to achieve full compliance thus allowing certification of all outbound calls. This mean for our customers that your outbound calls will continue to go through as normal.
For Non-Compliant STIR/Shaken Phone Companies
If companies have not met the requirements, then their customers can experience delays then possible denial on outbound calls after this date.
If you have anyone state they have been trying to call your business but cannot get through, please advise them to contact their phone service provider to see if their phone company is STIR/SHAKEN certified, listed on Robocall Mitigation or have them contact our office.
Robocall Mitigation
MetroConnect LLC is listed on the Robocall Mitigation Database and we are committed to follow their guidelines to reduce Robocalls. MetroConnect and its carriers will only accept traffic for termination from companies that are in the Robocall Mitigation Database after September 28, 2021.
We are committed to vetting all new clients to ensure the intent by each client to use our services are legitimate and well-intended. All new customers are requested to sign a Robocall Mitigation Disclosure.
STIR/SHAKEN is an important measure to protect businesses and consumers from telephone fraud, and MetroConnect is committed to compliance within these federal standards.
